House removal

March 16, 2013

Tai Kok Tsui Experience     Today we move to The Long Beach which is situated in Tai Kok Tsui near One Silver Sea and Imperial Cullinan. Although we love to reside at Sorrento, the increased rental to $31,000 changed my decision. But the new home is very nice with GFA of 747 sq ft, 2 rooms and having typhoon shelter seaview.

Shuttle bus service is provided to Olympic MTR Station everyday. Travelling time to and from office is lengthened 5 minutes only. The most convenient points: 1) equipped with a big food court - Food Republic with attractive price; 2) easy accessible to shopping complex and supermarket; 3) travel to MongKok within 10 minutes; and 4) perfect facilities provided by the Club House.

Dream House

January 31 (February 1), 2013

My New Home     I bought a new home on Jan 31 which is located in Tai Kok Tsui near Olympic MTR station. The name of apartment is Upper West (奧城•西岸) and GFA/SA is 860/609 sq.ft. (3 bedrooms, 1 store room, 2 washrooms, 1 balcony and 1 utility platform). It has Victoria Harbour view. The expected completion date is 1Q2016.

The house is quite expensive and I've set my objective to save at least $30,000 a month to reduce my debt burden by 2016 when the property is completed.

Special Class

January 25, 2013

Watchmaking Experience     I am invited to attend the 1.5 hour watchmaking class, trying to assemble a standard movement and discover the mysterious mechanism of a calibre. Under the guidance of Omega professional watchmaker, I can manage to accomplish the mission. What a precious experience for me!

After the class, we have a relaxing moment to share opinions on watch care and have some snack and champagne. I am gifted some souvenirs (certificate to be presented later) as a token of appreciation.

China's First Emperor (秦始皇)

October 27, 2012

The Majesty of All Under Heaven     I went to the Hong Kong Museum of History for the great exhibition: The Majesty of All Under Heaven: The Eternal Realm of China's First Emperor, which is held from 25 July - 26 Nov 2012. Because Nicole had visited the Terracotta Warriors (兵馬俑) 3 years ago in Xian excursion, she is not interested in this exhibition, and that's why I went there alone. I bought a ticket for the session 12:45pm, and the exhibition is expected to last for 1.5 hours.

Brief introduction of history: The Qin dynasty was an epoch-making era in Chinese history that witnessed the unification of China. The first Emperor established a centralized bureaucracy and a unified political system; standard laws were enforced over the country; the systems of weights and measures, currency and writings were standardized; and cross-border transportation and communication were improved by introducing the chidao (expressways) system. The completion of the Great Wall fortified frontier defense. All these policies reinforced the central administration that eventually emerged as the prototype of China's imperial rule for the following Millennia.

45 - but Forever 29

August 11, 2012

Happy Birthday to ME!     Time flies quickly and I am now 45. 45 is not a special number or milestone for me and therefore there is nothing special to celebrate today. However, I took the benefit of my birthday (Saturday this year) and went to the Ocean Park (with my Mom) for free.

Weather is not nice with occasional shower, but because of the weather the theme park is not crowded with people (Chinese visitors). We've been visiting the brand new Polar Adventure, where we can explore the North (meet Walrus 海象, spotted seals 斑海豹, northern sea lions 北海獅 and artic fox 北極狐) and South Poles (meet penguins) in a day.

In the evening, we met Nicole at Causeway Bay to have dinner at Chuen Cheung Kui restaurant. Nicole treated us this dinner as a celebration of my b-day. :p Let's take a look at my birthday presents:

Of all my birthday presents, there is one from a famous legend in the English football history who have won more than 30 trophies during his time in charge of a football club. He is the Reds boss, Sir Alex Fergusion. He sent me his autograpgh greeting card to celebrate my birthday. Here is the content - To King Wai, Happy Birthday King I hope you have a great day. Best wishes from me and all at the club."

New logo

July 27, 2012

Time to change     It's been 3 years for launching this website and I think it's now time to have some changes, e.g. the brand new sitemap, some further enhancements and the most important change - the new logo.

In fact, I designed 4 new logos in different theme and style, letter-based, crest or badge, abstract and meaningful. They are:

After my serious consideration, I short-listed two, crest and 'road to success', and finally the 'road to success' (in hoping that I have built a road or path leading to my success and also to Nicole's success.

Effective on 1 August (my birthday month), my website will have a new logo, signifying the new era of KW-11.

Happy Father's day

June 17, 2012

The 14th Father's day     Time flies quickly and I grew older and older - It is my 14th Father's day today!! I have nothing special to celebrate this day, just going to restaurant with Nicole, but Nicole has drawn a Father's day card.

I remember that Nicole has drawn me Father's day card when she is in childhood, but nothing when she grows up. When I received a card again from her, I am very happy and have the same feeling of happiness in many years ago.

I also remember that Nicole has bought me a Father's day present in 2007 (5 years ago) which is a Manchester United wallet (bought in Sogo @$490). In fact, Nicole did not have paid too much because I had Sogo coupon as a sponsorship. Anyway, I love this present very much and didn't use at all, safe kept in my cabinet as commemoration.

Easter special class

April 23, 2011

Chocolate Mousse Making Lesson     I have a special event during Easter holiday - to attend a chocolate mousse cake making lesson. This is the holiday event organised by the Club House, Sorrento. The cost (incl. ingredients) is $130. This is the first cooking lesson that I attend in my life. Feeling is great but I am a bit shy because all the particpants are female. Anyway, I enjoy the class very much and make a chocolate mousse cake myself successfully. More importantly, the taste is good.

The class is overrun by half an hour and I hurry back home after the class for a premier league match between Manchester United and Everton.

House removal

March 26, 2011

Bye Bye Heng Fa Chuen     Today, we move from Heng Fa Chuen where we have lived for 13 years. Although Nicole and myself missed HFC very much, we have to begin our new life in West Kowloon.

Our new home is the Sorrento which is situated at the Elements. In general, our home is very nice with 998 sq ft, 3 rooms (and 1 maid room), 2 toilets and seaview in all 3 rooms. We can see sunset in the evening and firework display in the Victoria Harbour. ICC, Harbourside, Cullinan are right opposite of our home. I rent a carpark at Waterfront costed $2,000/month.

My travelling time to and from office is shortened to around 10 minutes (with 1 MTR station to office), but Nicole has to take school bus at the HK Expressway station where she takes MTR (from Kowloon Station) there in the morning.

Report card published

January 14, 2011

Y7 First-Term Report Card     Just received the first term academic result of Nicole today, I notice that her overall performance is just average but English is good this term. Two subjects, namely Maths and Technology, needed to improve. Her main problem is hard to focus on tasks and lazy for revision.

Although I may excuse that it takes time for her to get used to Secondary One syllabuses, I would definitely like her to be more focus and working hard to get a better results next term. Overall MYP Grade this term is 32, a lot room for further improvement. Nicole, 努力 !! 加油 !!

Christmas Vacation

December 25-26, 2010

Ho ho ho ... Disneyland!!!    If my memory serves me right, this is the 4 consecutive years to celebrate Christmas in HK Disneyland Resort. Unlike the past, my elder brother's family joined the celebration this year and we celebrate the birthday of brother King Man there too.

However, dunno why there is no snow fall in the theme park this year. Like previous years, the park is crowded with people and it took a while to queue for games and shows.

Hand-made Mooncake

September 19, 2010

Mid-Autumn Festival    As Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching (this Wednesday), we have a family gathering and dinner at Chuen Cheung Kui (my Mom's favourite restaurant). In the early afternoon, May, Venus, Annie and Nicole go to J.A.M Bakery for making mooncake.

They make a lot of mini mooncakes including traditional mooncake and snowy mooncake (豆蓉冰皮月餅). It is very funny that some of the mooncakes have the faces of Hello Kitty and Doraemon. The snowy mooncake is made of red bean paste whereas the traditional mooncake is made of lotus paste with tiny egg yolk. I like the snowy mooncake very much, very yummy!!

Hand-made Birthday Cake

September 11, 2010

My 2nd birthday cake    Nicole has made a birthday cake for me 2 weeks after my birthday. However, because it is a cheese cake, I didn't try it. On 11 September, Nicole makes another birthday cake for me, but this time it is a chocolate mousse cake. Although the cake is a month behind my birthday, I am very very happy to have such a present from my daughter.

The birthday cake is in one pound and the presentation and decoration is designed by Nicole herself. To be frank, the cake is tasty, especially it is made of chocolate (my favourite flavor), it is not so sweet (more healthy) and more importantly it is made by Nicole.

P.6 Graduation 2009-2010

June 26, 2010

VSA PYP, MYP & DP Graduation Day    Today is Nicole's big day - P.6 Graduation. She will enter into a new stage in next academic year. We go to the school early in the morning @9:30am because Nicole has rehearsal. To me, I search for a better seat (the first row of parent seating) in order to view clearly on Nicole's graduation and her class performance.

It is very funny that all students are not required to wear graduation gown (except DP Graduates), but teachers (both primary as well as secondary) do. Overall, the graduation ceremony is not only solemn but entertaining. It lasts for almost two and a half hour till 12:30pm, after that we have some refreshment at 3/F cafeteria.

Nicole will be in Year 7 (equiv. F.1) next school year. I am pretty sure that the school life will be tough by then. I really hope that Nicole can manage to it with great success!!

Victoria Shanghai Academy Open Day

May 16, 2010

VSA Open Day / Family Fun Day    Today I go to Nicole's school at Shum Wan, Aberdeen to attend the Hangzhou Excursion Briefing @10:00am and participate in her school Open Day and Family Fun Day. The main theme of the Open Day this academic year is "Sharing the Planet".

Also, all P.6 students (divided by different groups) are required to hold and present their PYP Exhibitions at the Hall, and Nicole's group is presenting "Pink Dolphin". In fact, Nicole and her group members have spent almost 9-weeks for the Exhibition and I largely appreciate their efforts in information gathering, IT games development and central idea presentation. Well done Nicole and her members!!

During the exhibition, Nicole's team has a special guest to visit their booth, he is Stephen Chan Chi Wan, the ex-General Manager of TVB. In fact, he is invited by Dad of Ryan (one of her team members).

2010 World Cup

March 13, 2010

2010 FIFA World Cup go football Dated back to December last year, I have joined a lucky draw of FIFA World Cup go football by spending at least HK$200 via Visa Card. On 9 March 2010, I received a notification that I am one of the 500 winners for Visa FIFA World Cup Commemorative Football. How lucky I am athough I am not awarded the 5-day Trip for 2 to the FIFA World Cup Opening Match or the 4-day Trip for 2 to the FIFA World Cup Final Match.

Today, I go to Two Habourfront, Hunghom to get the prize in the afternoon and then walk around the Whampoa Garden. A relaxing weekend because I take a ferry, listening to music (with my NeXus One) to Hunghom.

Negative Mood

March 5, 2010

Why am I such a bad mood today? It is in fact due to a bulk of reasons, both personal and at work. I don't want to go into very details, but just want to share with you about my unhappiness. Indeed, there are a lot of things which are out of my control because of unexpectation. The only thing I can do is to accept the fact and self-tune myself coz changing one's decision is hard especially my influence and opinion towards him/ her is small. Just as you can get into a bad mood for what seems like no reason at times, that mood can also pass. Strive to make myself happy. Bon courage!!! (It's French meaning "Be Strong" or "Add Oil") Anyway, promise don't come easy.

Nicole's First Term Result

January 12, 2010

P.6 First-Term Report Card Just received the first term academic result of Nicole today, I notice that she has made a good improvement overall, especially the Programme of Inquiry (POI). More importantly, she has got two awards - Most Improved in POI (Term 1) and Merit for HK Schools Speech Festival (Putonghua - Solo).

Both Nicole and I are happy. Although I think Nicole has to continue work very hard in Mathematics and computer literacy, the overall result is up to satisfaction. I am thinking to buy Nicole something in Bangkok to appreciate her efforts. Nicole, please 努力 !! 加油 !!

2010 New Year

January 3, 2010

New Year Holiday First of all, I wish everyone a prosperous and wonderful year of 2010. Happy New Year!! I am happy that I have 3 and a half days new year holiday (including Saturday and Sunday), but I have nothing special to do during the holiday. For the first 2 days, I helped my brother's daughter, Annie to write a webpage (this is an integral part of the F.5 Computer Studies examination work which constitutes 12% of the total marks).

I walked around Times Squares in Saturday afternoon. Then I watched the award-winning film "The Beast Stalker" (starred by Cheung Ka Fai and Nicholas Tse) at home on Sunday. Also, I did some shopping in the supermarket and made "Dried Beancurd and Ginkgo Nuts Dessert". That's all for the holiday - so relax and calm.

Annual leave planning

November 14, 2009

Leave planning I have 7 days annual leave left this year and I am now planning when to take the leave. Checking with Nicole's school calendar that she will have Term One Summative Assessments from 1-3 Dec, I think I will take 3 days leave from 30 Nov to 2 Dec for preparation of Nicole's examination, because the results are important for her promotion to secondary school.

Since I have a cheap return jetfoil ticket ($180), I will probably take 1-day leave on 7 Dec (Mon) to have a day trip in Macau for relax, eating and some shopping (definitely will go to ManUtd store in the Venetian). Maybe I will go to casino to try my luck, but obviously my maximum total bet must be $300.

For the balance leave, I have not yet made up my mind. Perhaps I will take on every Friday or Monday so that I work for 4 days a week and have a long weekend.

National day 60th Anniversary

October 1, 2009

National day / KW-11 birthday Today is a public holiday becasue of the National Day. Also it is a great day for me as my first webpage - KW-11 is officially launched. I choose this day to launch my personal webpage hoping that everybody can easily remember the birth of my webpage. There is nothing special today to celebrate, just I myself drink a can of Jolly Shandy. Why alone? Because Nicole went to her mum place yesterday after school and she will be back at nightime (because she has school tomorrow). Despite no official opening ceremony, I regard the firework display at 8:00pm tonight as the special event for celebration of KW-11. Let's cheers!!!!
